Playing Big: I'm curious and willing to hustle
I've been doing a lot of personal development work lately. I downloaded the audbile.ca app and I am listening to books around the clock. My commitment to sharing my thoughts, fears, failures and successes around money in this blog has me digging deep.
One of my recent favourites is Playing Big by Tara Mohr. I have to admit that at first resisting Tara's message and quite critical. When listening to the first few chapters, it seemed a little gen x for me. I found myself saying, these aren’t my problems… and then around chapter 4 the light went on! It all started to come together.
After each chapter, Tara guides you through a bunch of thought exercises on who you are & how you got to your current state. She got me thinking about why I focus on money and my life-long journey of trying to figure out how to be secure, in charge of my time and in a word: rich.
For as long as I can remember, it always seemed to me that people who were relaxed, confident and happy had money to spare. When we were growing up, my dad had a mentor named Mr. Braden. He was quite successful in his career, his wife was always relaxed and happy and their house was beautiful. I was impressed! In my little kid brain, money seemed to be the common denominator between those who were struggling and those who could have the life they wanted. The Braden's were happy & successful, and that's the way I wanted to be.
From little Kaila's foggy curiosity to my adult mind's full blown... how the hell? and can that be me?... I've always wanted to know how I could get to this place of abundance.
The more I read, the more I learn that the key to abundance, happiness, success and peace is a mindset. The Money Edit is a reflection of our community Playing Big.
